Veterinarians

Dr. Aimée Coysh (née Filion)
Dr. Aimee Coysh
Dr. Aimée Coysh joined the HVS team in June 2012 after graduating from OVC at the University of Guelph. She has since made HVS her home, and in 2018 purchased the clinic from Dr. Laurie Brown. Dr. Coysh is a mixed animal practitioner and can be seen in the clinic, as well as out on the road at farms tending to livestock and other pets. She lives with her 3 cats, 1 dog, 2 horses, turtle and about 30 fresh-water tropical fish. In her spare time she likes to read, horseback ride, hike, cycle and practice yoga.

Dr. Nikolai Simkulak
Dr. Nikolai Simkulak
Dr. Nikolai Simkulak is a WCVM '95 graduate who joined the HVS team in 2007. She is a small animal practitioner and also is our resident pocket pet veterinarian. Dr. Simkulak is an avid cyclist, guitarist and traveller. She lives at home with her cats, rats and tropical fish.
Amanda Curry, BVM&S - MRCVS
Dr. Amanda Curry
Dr. Amanda Curry is a mixed animal vet originally from Uxbridge, Ontario and is excited to see all things great and small at Haliburton Veterinary Services. She has worked as a full-time veterinarian at two other clinics, a small animal practice and an equine only practice, both in Southern Ontario. In her spare time, Amanda loves to spend time outdoors with friends and family. She grew up on a horse farm, is an avid equestrian, and therefore has a special spot in her heart for her equine patients. Outside of work she spends time snowboarding, hiking, riding, reading, and creating beautiful art and music.
Molly Van Camp, BVM&S
Dr. Molly Van Camp
Dr. Molly Van Camp joined HVS the summer of 2021, incredibly excited to work as a mixed animal practitioner. Molly earned her degree in Veterinary Medicine & Surgery from the University of Glasgow in Scotland in 2020. Before this she attended Dalhousie University in Halifax for her undergraduate degree followed by a year working in Lexington, KY as a nutrition and exercise physiology intern at Kentucky Equine Research. Molly has two cats of her own who have traveled all over with her, as well as a German Shepherd with megaesophagus. She spends most of her spare time with her family, or at the barn with her thoroughbred Caspar and clydesdale Zelda.

Kellie came to HVS as a seasoned RVT in 2016. She has become an asset to our team and can be found in the treatment and exam rooms assisting with surgeries and medical appointments. Kellie is a hobby farm enthusiast, and loves all things relating to growing and preserving home grown food. Kellie has 2 dogs named Falcon and Willow. Falcon is a sweet old man and loves to cuddle by the fire whereas, Willow is a very energetic small lab who can be found bouncing through the clinic when she is in visiting the team.

Madison, RVT
Madison is our newest RVT who graduated in 2018 from Northern College. Madison has been with HVS for many years though first as a high school co-op student, then as a summer employee. Madison loves good food, working out, playing fetch with her dog Copper and cuddling her cat Smudge. Smudge was dropped off at the clinic as a stray cat who found his forever home with Madison. We are very excited to have Madison on the team!

Shayla, RVT
Shayla is an RVT who joined our team in 2020. She is a 2012 graduate from St. Clair College. Shayla loves to utilize her skills in venipuncture and has a passion for dog training. She often can be found around her property, on her AT, snowmobile, or horse. She shares her home in Minden with several animals including snakes, guinea pigs, poultry, cats and dogs. Her German shepherd KC is usually by her side on all of her adventures either on land or water.

Cassidy, RVT
Cassidy is an RVT that graduated from St. Lawrence College in 2018, after completing one of her final placements here at HVS. Cassidy worked for a couple of years at another clinic before finding her way back to us this year! She enjoys being on the lake in the summer and on the ski hill in the winter. Cassidy's French bulldog Vinny takes up the rest of her time!

Kristin graduated from Georgian College and became a RVT spring 2021. She has always loved animals and decided to go where her heart led her. Kristin and her family moved here from Windsor Ontario to start a better life over 25 years ago. They raised both their children (Cody and Kandice) here. Kristin has 2 dogs (Oliver and Kora), a kitten (Chicken Nugget), 2 canaries, 4 Java finches, and 5 chickens (Ducky and his ladies). Kristin enjoys paddleboarding, hiking, snowshoeing, swimming and anything pet related.

Lynn is a front staff administrative assistant who has been part of the team for the past 9 years. Lynn enjoys shopping, good wine and delving into a good book. She is one of the first faces that you see when you enter the clinic and loves to help people.

Michelle came to us from a human medical facility in the summer of 2018. Michelle is well known around the community for her contributions as a photographer at the horse pulling competitions. She spends most of her spare time working on her photography or relaxing with family and friends. Michelle loves a good laugh and of course her Australian shepherd, Ranger!

Heather came to us in 2013. She is one of the first faces that you see when you enter the door and always makes sure you are cared for. Heather participates in many community events including the Minden softball team.

Samantha, Animal Care Attendant
Samm is the newest addition to the HVS team, graduating from Durham College in 2021. She is our Animal Care Attendant and ensures that our patients are comfortable and well looked after. Samm enjoys the great outdoors with her two handsome boys; Rudee, the blue heeler; and Stanley, the Great Pyrenees x Aussie. She also has a talent for art and the love for all animals of every shape and size. We welcome her and her bubbly personality to our family.

Dr. Laurie Brown
Dr. Laurie Brown
Dr. Laurie Brown started the HVS team in 1984 after graduating from OVC in '82. She has since grown the practice to what it is today! Dr. Laurie Brown is a mixed animal practitioner and although she is now seeing fewer appointments, she is still an active member of the HVS team. Dr. Brown has her own menagerie at home including a number of cattle, horses, cats and dogs. Dr. Brown loves spending time in her historic lake house when she is not tending to patients.

Dr. Joan Grant
Dr. Joan Grant
Dr. Joan Grant started at the HVS clinic in 1990. She originally was a mixed animal practitioner, but after a brief 7 month retirement, she returned to the clinic in 2017 and has decided to practice small animal medicine only. Dr. Grant is an avid bird-watcher, an active member of her UCW (United Church Women), on the Outreach Committee of Highland Hills United Church and is an alumnus of Water Ambassadors of Canada. Joan loves vegetarian cuisine, singing, hiking, and being a community volunteer (Hyland Crest Nursing Home and Children's Water Festival). Along with her beloved Winnie, a tough little border collie X, Dr. Grant can be found tramping around her family farm for at least 3 hours most days, in all kinds of weather!

Debbie, AHT
Debbie was one of the first employees of HVS, and started with Dr. Brown in September 1986 as a co-op student! She is now our main large animal technician and can be found helping with anything and everything at the clinic. Debbie and her daughters are horse enthusiasts, and spend as much time with their quarter horses Pepper, Brandi and Bailey as they can. Debbie also has 2 cats named Lu and Casey, and a border collie named Parker, who is one of the sweetest and best trained dogs!

Evonne, AHT
Evonne is an AHT who started at the clinic in 2012. She has 2 beautiful children who take up the majority of her time between hockey and figure skating. She has 2 dogs who each land at one end of the size scale, Twister who is a chihuahua mix, and Thor who is a great dane, mastiff cross. Evonne can also be found all over the clinic, assisting in all aspects.

Clinic cats

Sully and Ray - aka "the kittens"
Sully And Ray
Sully and Ray are brothers who came to us in the summer of 2018 as 8 week old kittens. They both have developmental disabilities due to an in utero infection that their mother contracted. Sully has cerebellar hypoplasia - a condition where his brain did not develop properly and he now has balance issues and intention tremors. Ray has incredibly poor vision as only 1 eye developed. This eye is only partly visual. They love to play and get into mischief.
